BEHIND THE SCENES OF TERRA NOSTRA
SPRING IS IN THE AIR!
Alex - APRIL 2015
At the beginning of each season, and inspired by the colors and textures around us, we create new displays at our boutique in Arlington. I am always looking for ideas!! Spring is a special season for the vibrant and beautiful reds, pinks, purples and greens... and the sun invites us to admire nature and is starting to wake up the dormant flowers that were patiently waiting for its warmth.
Come visit our Arlington boutique and see what's blooming here!

Come check it out!
OUR FRIEND “EL MATE”
Alex - March 2014
There is a constant presence in our studios and everywhere we go. The “MATE” is our real soul mate in our creative processes.Mate (pronounced ‘mah-tay’) is very popular in Argentina. It is a tea made from the leaves and stems of the yerba mate bush, which is related to holly and grows like a weed in the Parana and Paraguay river basins. Mate is a well-kept secret – it is commonly drunk only in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and southern Brazil. Yet among the various merits of yerba mate are its properties as a stimulant to the central nervous system, a diuretic, an anti-rheumatic and a tonic. Some herbalists have gone so far as to suggest that it can delay the signs of ageing (stop you from going gray), reduce stress and stimulate your mind. Mate plays a key part in Argetnine culture and it is meant to be shared with friends and family. But the big draw for most yerba mate enthusiasts is the promise of a “clean” caffeine-like buzz, free of jitters and unpleasantness, which yerba mate is said to provide. Basically, yerba mate is supposed to give you energy without the negative side effects.
For us, it embodies a ritual of conversation, trust and, in our case, creativity. We are well aware that, as they say, “mate is an acquired taste and requires much practice”. But if you ever come to visit us and see us with a mate in our hands, you now know it is simply a tea, and … who knows, you might end up getting one yourself!! ;-)
